(Milwaukee, WI 3/7/2019) - Jeff Courtney and his #88 JCR Motorsports Matrix/RecStuff/Kenda Maserati GT4 took the GT class victory in the Trans Am Series season-opening round at Sebring International Raceway after a race-long battle with the #22 Aston Martin.
After putting the # 88 Matrix / RecStuff / Kenda Maserati GT4 on the pole in Saturday’s qualifying Courtney was able to close the deal with a race win on Sunday.
"It has been a long five-plus years since I have raced at Sebring and I forgot how much fun and challenging the track can be," said driver Jeff Courtney, "The JCR crew did such a great job setting up and adjusting the car throughout the weekend, the car was better every session. We had a great start and pulled out a comfortable lead early on and I thought it was going to be a relatively easy drive but that all changed with a full course caution. We lost the lead and fell back after having to take to the dirt to avoid a T/A car that had spun, but we were able to click off some really good laps to reel in the Aston Martin and retook the lead with about 6 laps to go and went on to claim the win."
Courtney continued, "I would really like to Thank our sponsors Matrix / RecStuff / Kenda and the folks at Trams Am for really making us feel welcome to their series! We showed up last minute to give it a try and they were very helpful. We are hoping to run more events in the Trans Am series later this season."
Plans for JCR Motorsports’ remaining 2019 schedule will be announced in the near future.
