Dear <<First Name>>

Good afternoon and happy Friday, we hope this email finds you well?

The leaves have started to turn, the mornings are dewy and children return to school for the Autumn term next week! Where did the summer go?

A month has passed since we last updated you on what we've been up to and once again, there's plenty to share.

Read on and find out what we've been up to...

HANGOUT, our positive activity programme for children who have been affected by someone else’s substance misuse, hosted two activity days last week, with one of those days working with Knapple, a local street artist. Knapple taught the young people techniques with spray paint and helped with the mural on the car park wall at the Next Steps Centre. The children loved working with her and also painted their own canvases that they took home as well. I think we could have a few more artists at HANGOUT from now on! Move over Banksy!

TOUR DE BROADS: TPR Events announced the return of their Tour de Broads cycling challenge. An epic cross county event that took entrants to as many of the Norfolk broads that they could reach on the roads, with picturesque views in between. This event took place on Sunday 22nd August and Outside The Wire from The Matthew Project entered a team.
They battled hills, torrential rain for the first 15 miles and an exploding wheel but pedalled onwards to complete the course. We are thrilled to announce that they raised a brilliant total of £1,575.
Read the full report on the day here. We will leave the fundraising page open until the end of September, so do feel free to donate if you haven't already and WELL DONE lads!

UNITY SKYDIVE: On Friday 1st October, one of our remarkable young people is heading to the skies with his Unity worker, where they'll be taking on the challenge of a lifetime - A tandem skydive at UK Parachuting centre, Beccles!
This is a first for them both, so let there be no doubt that it will be an incredible test of strength and bravery. However, having struggled through some tough times, our young person is ready for the challenge and as always, has the support of his worker, the rest of the team at Unity and The Matthew Project Charity.
To protect the identity of this young person, we have not included any personal details. We can share that he is on the road to recovery after struggling with substance misuse issues and associated criminality, so this will be an OUTSTANDING achievement!
Please show your support with a donation. (Click here) Funds raised will be split between our Unity project and The Matthew Project, so that we can continue our life saving work with children and young people across Norfolk. Every penny you give will be very much appreciated, thank you.
NORFOLK REMEMBERS: On Thursday 23rd September, The Matthew Project will be hosting a remembrance service at the church of St. Peter Mancroft, Norwich, to remember those lost and suffering due to substance misuse. This event offers time for reflection to anyone struggling or grieving as a result of drug and alcohol addiction and is free to attend. Entry is via the glass doors at the west end (under the tower) from 6.30pm with the service commencing at 7.00pm. Wherever you are on your journey, you are welcome to join us. ON TRACK: Last week BBC Voices Producer, Amy Nomvula, led a workshop for On Track participants helping them gain confidence in recording audio and looking at ideas around what defines them (See pic) Our young people had a brilliant time with Amy and their new found skills may lead them in a career direction that they hadn't previously consider. Big thanks to Amy and the BBC for their support. On Track project is funded by the European Social Fund & The National Lottery Community Fund.

That's it for today. Hopefully we've given you plenty to smile about. In our next newsletter we'll be sharing information about our Christmas fundraising appeal and how you can purchase our Christmas cards designed by our Next Steps members...

Until then, our very best wishes,

The Matthew Project Team x
