Dear <<First Name>>

We hope this newsletter finds you well. It's been a fortnight since we last emailed and there is lots of news to share.

We seem to be getting more active, with staff member Justin setting up a bicycle training group, Pedal Positive. You can read about it here. Plus former Recovery Support Programme member Ash, who now volunteers with us, has set up a weekly running group.

It's certainly true that exercise makes you feel good, so our challenge to you this weekend is to get outside and get moving!

Read on below to find out what we've been up to...

ABOVE: This Armed Forces Day, we’re sharing the brilliant work of Claire O’Hara Photography with a series of portraits she captured of our Outside The Wire veterans alongside their testimonials. These gentlemen attend our Veterans group each week, finding great value in spending time with each other and our trained recovery support workers.
If you’d like to donate to our Outside The Wire service, which supports veterans with PTSD, poor mental health and/or substance misuse issues across Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex, you can use this link.
RECOVERY SUPPORT PROGRAMME: We are so privileged here at The Matthew Project to watch the journeys of those we support. Here is one of our Recovery Support Programme members with a certificate for a mindfulness course he passed. In the last year, 43 adults in recovery from substance misuse took part in our Recovery Support Programme, 1,807 telephone calls were made for advice and support, 185 drop-in sessions were delivered and 8 members went on to volunteer and provide peer support!

This event will return to Norfolk on Sunday 22nd August.
The Matthew Project are looking for teams and individuals to enter and raise funds in sponsorship for our vital work. All we ask is that you pay the entrance fee of £10 and commit to raising £90 or more. To sign up or for further information, please click here.
ANXIETY ADVICE: Susan, manager of our Early Intervention team, shared some great advice to calm nerves, relieve anxiety and sooth the soul this week. It was on a Monday, but it's a technique that can be used any time!
Hold out one hand, palm out and fingers spread. Using the pointer finger of your other hand, trace the side of the fingers in the stretched out hand. Breathe in as you trace up. Hold your breath for a second. Breathe out as you trace down. Repeat for each finger. Have a go, it works.

Thank you for your time in reading this and for your continued support of The Matthew Project charity.

With very best wishes as always, The Matthew Project x
