Congratulations on securing your place at the wonderful Essex International Jamboree 2020

We are so excited that it's now 2020, and we can truly start the countdown to the 1st August when we will all come together to celebrate the opening ceremony of the Essex International Jamboree.

We're looking forward to welcoming you to our Jamboree, where we will have built our 'Tented Village' on the 120 acre green field site.  Of course, there's a lot to do before then so for now we would like to update you on some key information and help you get prepared for a fantastic week in a field in Chelmsford, Essex.
Personal Details & Photographs
In February, we will request additional details and photos for every member of your group.  You will receive an email advising you and you will need to log into the booking system.

Once logged in, you will need to:
  1. Download a data collection sheet to gather all the information required from the participant's parents/guardians as well as your leaders (inc. dependent children)
  2. Once complete, you need to input all the information to the registration system
  3. Upload a photo of each member of your group.  Please note the photos are only used by the registration team for identification purposes.  If you have a question about this, please email
  4. You should ensure you submit the information before the 31st March 2020.

Top tip:
You may want to ask for the forms to be returned by 14th March giving you enough time to enter the information.  Alternatively, if you have the time, space and access to the internet, you could invite the parents to one of your Scout or Guide meetings and ask them to complete the information there and then. If you do this don't forget to ensure they bring all the correct information with them.

Top tip: Take the photos of each of participant at your Scout or Guide meeting; if you log on to the booking system on your phone you can take the photo and upload it instantly to the system.

Group leaders it's time to start preparing
We have had an amazing level of interest from across the UK as well as overseas - and many are already planning their fundraising and Jamboree experience.

To support you we will continue to publish more information, but in the meantime here's our Good Camping Guide and FAQs.

Top tip: Activity preparation
Over the coming months, we'll let you know about extra things you can do or bring to the Jamboree.  To get you started, you could plan these two:
  1. 'Tastes of the World': what food or drink could you share from your local area?
  2. 'Fun of the Fair': do you have a game you can bring?  Typically this would be something simple such as spin the wheel, roll the penny or indeed human 10-pin bowling ... but do let your imagination go!

Top tip: Jamboree clothing
Are you thinking of buying hoodies for your unit?  Why not gather together all the sizes so as soon as the colours are available, you'll be able to order them.  You can see the type and sizes of clothing available at our online shop.

Top tip: You could start your forms today
There are forms (i.e. Girlguiding REN) that need to be completed in advance to attend a residential event, so why not get these started now?  Also, it's important you check the status of your teams' DBS to ensure these are still valid whilst at camp.

Spread the word about Junior Jam
Our booking system is now open for this great opportunity for Rainbows, Beavers, Brownies and Cubs to attend the Jamboree for a day.  They will be able to select either the 2nd or 3rd August and you can read more about it on our website.

Would you like to meet Peggy?
To arrange a visit from Peggy email us detailing where you are based and why you think you should be visited.
