Gulf Cove United Methodist Church is slowly opening back up. The Closet of Hope, our clothing ministry, will reopen on every Saturday from 9:30-1:30 starting on November 14. It is extremely risky behavior that puts everyone on the road in danger. Texting is one of the most dangerous of distracted driving behaviors. Please put the phone down. Focus on driving.

The Early Learning Coalition of Florida’s Heartland (ELCFH) is excited to announce that the Charlotte Board of County Commissioners and the City of Punta Gorda have awarded needed funding for child care services for Charlotte County children.  These funds are administered through the United Way of Charlotte County and will help to reach hundreds of economically disadvantaged children.  “Access to child care services means families can work or go to school”, stated Anne Bouhebent, ELCFH Executive Director,  “We are so grateful that this need has such tremendous support in Charlotte County!”  
Government/Assistance News:

Representative Greg Steube reminds you that: Americans have the opportunity to come together and exercise our right to vote on November 3rd. Here are some resources about election day from the Florida Division of Elections:
  • The polls are open on Election Day, November 3rd, from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. (local time) Any voters waiting in line at 7:00 p.m. will have the opportunity to cast a ballot.
  • To find your precinct or polling location, visit your Supervisor of Elections’ website. You can also use the Voter Information Lookup page from the Florida Department of State.
A Sarasota County representative will be available by appointment at the Englewood Chamber of Commerce Tuesday, Thursday and Friday to assist Sarasota County small business and non-profits with CARES Act applications.  Call 941-474-5511 for an appointment.
The Charlotte CARES Act Eviction Diversion Program was launched on Nov. 2 and will run through Nov. 16, 2020. Designed to prevent a mass eviction event in Charlotte County, the program was created to serve the most vulnerable clients and to stabilize the landlords who have also been severely impacted financially by COVID-19. CARES Act applicants who were approved for financial assistance but are still experiencing significant hardship, specifically, facing eviction can register for the program at and may receive additional assistance of up to $5,000. 
Sarasota County Fire Department personnel reminds you that Daylight savings time ended Sunday, Nov. 1 and that is always a good reminder to test and replace batteries in smoke alarms.
Suncoast Humane Society Pets of the Week...

DOG: This sweetie is Tasha!  Tasha is used to being the main attraction and you will see just how much she appreciates all that love. She enjoys the company of people and is very affectionate. Tasha enjoys a good swim on a hot day to exercise. Since she is a mature gal she is trained and just looking for that loving home to call her own.

CAT: This sweet angel is Lola, and don't let appearances fool you, she may look like a mighty pirate with her one eye but the truth is that you've never met anyone sweeter! At this point in life all this girl wants is love and cuddles! Don't we all? Could that special someone be you?
Englewood Animal Rescue Sanctuary (EARS) urgently needs new fosters.
All dogs are entrusted with EARS are placed in foster homes until adopted. We are limited only by the number of Fosters we have. In urgent need are homes without any other pets who can adopt larger breed dogs (over 40lbs). Donations are always appreciated.
