The Old Englewood Village Association (OEVA) had to cancel the annual Halloween Safe Walk. We are sorry, but it was for the health and safety of our residents, visitors, and our businesses. What OEVA did was come up with something entirely new! This year, OEVA will be holding a Decorate Your House contest, where residents can decorate their home for Halloween and submit their address and a photo for a chance to win up to $200 in gift certificates from member OEVA businesses. The Charlotte County Homeless Coalition’s 9th Annual “Driving Out Hunger” Fall Golf Scramble will be Saturday, November 21, 2020 at the Riverwood Golf Club located at 4100 Riverwood Drive in Port Charlotte. 22 veterans a day commit suicide. January. 5th, 2019 Mitch and Shannon Mesenburg received a text from their active duty Air Force son, it was a picture of a handwritten note saying he could not go on. The Mesenburgs will host a fund raiser to benefit Mission 22, a non-profit that assists vets at no costs, that are struggling with their demons. Mission 22 needs our help. From Charlotte County Government: The 1% percent local option sales tax has funded more than 120 projects over the past 26 years that enhance our quality of life. The current local option sales tax expires this year, but on Nov. 3, voters will decide whether or not to extend it for six years to fund additional projects. Englewood Animal Rescue Sanctuary (EARS) urgently needs new fosters.
All dogs are entrusted with EARS are placed in foster homes until adopted. We're limited only by the number of Fosters we have. In urgent need are homes without any other pets who can adopt larger breed dogs (over 40lbs). Donations are always appreciated.
