Dear Piper,

For all of you who've been joining us at the FGC Gathering in Minnesota, we hope you've had a great time, and for those elsewhere we hope you're having a lovely summer so far. With some hot weather and perhaps a vacation, what a lovely time to find a spot of shade and read a book. We invite you to consider the titles below, relax, and enjoy yourselves.

In the Light,
Marta Rusek, Interim Manager, QuakerBooks of FGC

Ellen's Corner: Radicalizing Spirit

This month, Brian Drayton, who travels among Friends with a concern for those led to ministry and spiritual nurture, sits in Ellen’s Corner to review Radicalizing Spiritand ask: “Can Friends dare to trust the Spirit, trust it radically, to be at work in all kinds of people drawn to worship with us—evangelical, liberal, Conservative, and all the hyphenated varieties that have arisen in recent decades, as people have been drawn (led!) to join with us?”
Read Brian's review.

Updated QuakerBooks Website!

It looks very similar, but QuakerBooks has gone through a major website update. You'll find that the new website is faster, the check out process clearer, and that it's easier to read and find what you want. But mostly we hope we've made it better for you.

Past Gathering Speakers

This month's booklist features titles from past Gathering plenary speakers who fed us spiritually and helped us consider our faith and beliefs.

Quaker Classics: A Sincere and Constant Love

This is the only collection of writings featuring epistles and doctrinal writings of the woman many have called "the mother of Quakerism." Selections include Women's Speaking JustifiedThe Mystery Letter, A Testimony of Margaret Fell Concerning her Late Husband George Fox, and Some of the Sayings of Margaret Fox a Little before her Departure out of this World. An important book for any meeting library or any Friend interested in early Quakerism. This new second edition is a handsome and the typesetting more readable than the earlier version. Find it on QuakerBooks here.
