The Annual General Meeting of the Company was held on Wednesday 5th AUGUST 2020, hosted by the Tauranga Branch. Following the Executive Council Meeting, 23 members and one partner guest enjoyed lunch in the Mt Maunganui RSA and then repaired to the Gallipoli Room for the AGM. Captain Dave Ewing, who had recently re-joined the Company, was presented with his Membership Certificate by the Master of the Company. Captain Ewing commenting that his original certificate from 1973 appeared to have been lost in the post as he had never received one!  (Photograph below) .
A remit from the Christchurch Branch proposing that the position of Deputy Master be reinstated into the Rules did not proceed. However, Captain Eric Good (Warden, Wellington) was nominated as 'Master Designate' to stand-in for the Master should circumstances require until the next AGM when, if a nomination is received from the Branch, he may be elected as Master of the Company.

Officers of the Company remain unchanged.

The next AGM will be held in Wellington on 11 August 2021.

The draft minutes of the AGM have been forwarded to Branch Secretaries for distribution to members.

Historian Hugh Sebag-Montefiore who is writing a book about the Arctic convoys of WW2, commissioned by the British publisher Harper Collins, would like to find out if any of our members know of any:
  1.  living veterans who participated in the Arctic convoys, or their relatives in case these relatives hold the veterans' memoirs.
  2.  vivid written or recorded personal accounts of what was witnessed by the participants during these convoys, or in Russia when the convoys reached Murmansk and Archangel.
  3. relevant photos or little known books or published memoirs
He stresses that he is only using personal accounts written or recorded by a witness. And he is only using accounts which describe battles or attacks by the Germans which resulted in ships being badly damaged or sunk, or accounts of what happened in Murmansk and Archangel, and the surrounding ports, when the convoy crews landed there.

If anyone thinks they can help, please email him at
