The June meeting of the Wellington Branch enjoyed an address from Mr Clive Glover, a well-known and respected leader in the New Zealand maritime world. As well as being General Manager of Blue Bridge he is also the President of the NZ Shipping Federation and was well placed to give an up-to-date interpretation of the current maritime scene.
As articulated by Clive, there are certain areas of concerns that New Zealand Shipping Federation is facing today including an ageing profile of seafarers. With regards to current issues facing the maritime freight/logistics sector, Clive commented on government and regulatory body requirements, section 198, container port wrangles, oil refinement and distribution, increasing bunker price, cement distribution, drydock needs, political aspirations, climate change problems, etc. all of which contribute to an unpredictable future.

Captain John Brown expresses thanks to Mr Glover

Captain Michael Pryce will address the July 14th meeting of the Wellington Branch on the subject “Cruise ships and Coronavirus”.
