Basic data (name and email address only) is maintained in the database used for distribution of this Bulletin. The database is only accessed by the General Secretary although for updating and comparison purposes segments may be shared with Branch Secretaries who hold their own databases. The 10th Annual Christmas Dinner Meeting of the Combined Maritime Societies was held at the Northern Club in Auckland on 4 December 2020. The event was attended by 109 members of various maritime societies including a number of Master Mariners. NZCMM Master, Captain Ted Ewbank organised the evening and NZCMM General Secretary, Cdr Larry Robbins, stepped in at short notice as guest speaker when a late programme change meant that the programmed speaker, Captain Simon Rooke of HMNZS AOTEAROA, had to take his ship to sea, Larry's topic was "Mercy Ships" including an update about the new hospital ship nearing completion in China. MV GLOBAL MERCY is just under a metre longer than AOTEAROA and is 3.5 metres greater in breadth. However AOTEAROA's draft is 2m greater and her deadweight tonnage also greater.
