President’s Message

July 2014

Passion at New Heights
"Passion is anything that challenges you, intrigues you and motivates you, beyond just enthusiasm, but true passion drives ambition to put things into real actions."

Many would remember me saying the above in my Inaugural speech and also from time to time when asked to define this year's chapter theme. Over the last 7 months, passion has colored my life with endless challenges and precious memories. It is my sincere hope that every Jayceette also felt this colorful passion this year as we reached new heights with good membership growth and innovative projects.
As always, I feel very blessed by passion of members to make our chapter shines with brilliance this year. However, it is recently not easy to feel at ease with all the tragic events happening globally. It has impacted me to think deeply how we as JCs to keep our spirits for positive change and peace? We surely cannot be superheroes to soar into the skies to save the world, but we can with our passion to be dedicated young active citizens to play a role in our local community to broadcast message of social peace and harmony. Our every little hope and deed can make some difference in lives of people and ourselves, and this is exactly our proud Care & Dare UN MDG project attempts to achieve.
Of course, in August, the excitement in the chapter will peak as we reveal 2015 board candidates and to prepare for our Annual General Meeting (20 September), as well as the National Convention (26 to 28 September). Some may say it is time for my retirement (laugh), but this is just another milestone before we have our grand 45th Anniversary (19 October). With so much happening, I can rumble on and on with words, Jayceettes, let’s keep up the strong passion and be prepared for an exhilarating ride. Enjoy this issue of eSnapshots, and stay fit and healthy this summer!

President Academy 2014 on 25 to 26 July

Over the Top  The Challenger

For the first time in the history of President Academy, 20 potential candidates for 2015 presidency gathered together for an intensive but inspiring and targeted training covering simulated election, JCI knowledge quiz, presentation of one's goals and most significantly, a chance to present project ideas to Political Assistant to Secretary for Home Affairs Mr.Caspar Tsui. As said by the trainer, it was indeed the 'experience' (體驗) that matters, rather than the experience itself. Congratulations to Vice President Naomi Chan for completion of the challenges and won an outstanding prize in the challenge session!

July Fellowship Gathering on 27 July

Let's Bollywood!

Although the weather in July 2014 was extraordinarily hot, our monthly fellowship gathering was even hotter!

With Bollywood theme, we enjoyed lots of glamorous fun- dressing up in bold colors, vibrant dance movement led by our pretty instructor Olive Ho, her brilliant performance, exotic refreshment and funny Indian cartoon photo booth...For extra sparkling excitement, we voted for Miss Bollywood, with 2 winners Tiffany Lee and Vice President Patrizia Yeung!

Apart from Bollywood flare, we also explored the cultural and social side of India led by our guest speaker, Mr. Sukhbir Singh, who had teaching experience in both India and Hong Kong. All participants had enjoyed such a cultural-intensive gathering!

See you all in August fellowship gathering!
