Raspberry Shake – Android App Released!

(Hi Neil ;)
Android app EQInfo (v1.6), brought to you by our partners at gempa GmbH, now integrates seamlessly with your Raspberry Shake personal seismograph to bring you up-to-the-minute earthquake announcements including waveform snippets from your very own Raspberry Shake. In doing so, EQInfo exploits what is quickly becoming the largest IoT citizen-scientist earthquake detection network in the world to bring you high fidelity earthquake information. EQInfo was conceived and implemented by the expert developers of SeisComP, a software platform used by most every geophysical institute in the world to automatically detect and locate earthquakes.

Available at the Google Play store at no cost.

How to use the App to view data from your Raspberry Shake:
1. Go to Settings
2. Go to "Data Acquisition" and scroll to the bottom
3. Input your Raspberry Shake's station ID (e.g., R7GH3)

Your waveform data will then be displayed at the bottom of the screen when you choose an earthquake of interest in the list. You can also open the map view and click on any earthquake and a seismogram from your Raspberry Shake will pop up along the bottom of the screen.

Waveforms are automatically filtered by distance of the earthquake from your Raspberry Shake. Filters are:

0 to 2 degrees: 3 - 20 Hz
2 to 10 degrees: 3 - 8 Hz
10 to 20 degrees: 0.7 - 2 Hz
20+ degrees: 1-3 Hz
Note: 1 degree equals ~111 Kilometers

Many thanks to our partners at gempa for this important contribution to the Raspberry Shake Community! (gempa also brought you: EQView and stationView- Thanks Bernd, Dirk, Enrico, Jan, Ralph & Stephan!)

A note to Apple and iPhone users:  There is no immediate plan to port EQInfo to iOS but we are discussing it. Please stay tuned!
