Christmas is approaching fast...

Hi all

Welcome to our latest news round up from a chilly but lovely and sunny winter’s day in Torquay.

The 25 is now pretty much closed for winter.  We are open for the middle two weekends in December, but apart from that, we don’t open now until the weekend before Valentine’s.

We won’t have our feet up, although we don’t plan the kind of massive renovation projects we’ve done over the last three winters.  We'll be sprucing up the rooms to make sure everything is looking perfect again in time for our 2018 season.

Awards season has started again and we are off to the Visit Devon awards in Plymouth next Thursday.  We won silver for Best B&B in Devon last year so we hope to better that this year.  Fingers crossed for us.

Christmas is coming so there are details of our gift vouchers and some fantastic offers for next year below.

We’ll no doubt be in touch again, but if we don’t speak to you again before hand, we hope you have a lovely Christmas and look forward to seeing you in 2018.

Best wishes,

Andy, Julian & Patsy!

Gift Voucher

We all know someone who is difficult to buy for.

Don’t worry – we’ve answered your prayers with our gift vouchers – available in any denomination from £50 upwards.  Simply call us to book one.

If it’s a Christmas present, let us know and we’ll date it 25th December and they’ll have a whole year to book a stay with us.

They are attractively presented in a greetings card with an envelope for your own message.

Call us now to arrange & we can get it in the post to you.  If you miss the last post, we can email them.
Valentine’s Day

No sooner as Christmas is over and there will be red hearts wherever you look in the shops.

So, thinking ahead, if you want to treat someone special at Valentine’s, we’ll be open in time for the weekend before on Friday 9th February.

Don’t forget, we can arrange bubbly, handmade chocolates or flowers for you.

Book before the end of December using code VALS in the Promo Code box on our website when booking (next to the dates box) and get a 15% discount for any two night stay in February.

Vision Style Awards

We’re off to the Visit Devon awards in Plymouth on Thursday.

The 25 are finalists for Best B&B again (we won silver last year).

We are up against some stiff competition in our category so it’s impossible to say how we’ll do.  If we do well, we’ll automatically be through to the South West awards again.

We didn’t get through to the finals of Independent Hotel of the year but they are looking to change the categories next year to make it fairer for smaller properties like ours so watch this space.

Of course we’ll let you know on social media how we do on Thursday evening so please follow us.

If you read Andy's recent blog, you’ll know that the Competition and Markets Authority is currently investigating the online travel agent websites – the likes of, Expedia, and Trivago.

The full blog can be read here:
They are asking both hoteliers and the general public as consumers for their views on these booking sites.  You can fill in their questionnaire here.  It all helps them understand how these sites use clever marketing techniques to get you to book up without the full information, and often at a higher price too.

We’ve lost count of the guests who have said they booked a particular room because it was the last one available when it wasn’t, they were just told that.  Most don’t realise they could have saved money by booking direct.  Some don’t even realise they are not on our own website when booking.

If you have a few minutes, here’s the link to the questionnaire:
