Ministry Update
The Gensheers are heading to Mansfield, TX to join up with God's work at Christ Presbyterian Church!

We are excited to share the most recent development in our church planting endeavors. At the beginning of the year, we received a call to plant a church in the greater Fort Worth area, partnering with Fort Worth Presbyterian Church and the Southwest Church Planting Network. Within a couple of weeks, we were presented with an opportunity to join a church plant in progress as its new Lead Pastor, Christ Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Mansfield, TX. Mansfield is a growing suburb of Fort Worth, with a projected population of 70,000+ people by 2015, and is a strategic location to plant a gospel-centered church.

After several weeks of praying, investigating and dialoguing with everyone involved, we believed that this was in fact where God was calling us. This was confirmed after spending a weekend interviewing and preaching at the church and then their extending a call to me as the new Lead Pastor.

The people gathered at Christ Presbyterian Church in Mansfield are great folks, and Maggie and I are excited and eager to be down there and continue the work of sharing the gospel in word and deed, discipling men, women and children, and seeing God change lives and move people into living with kingdom intentionality in Mansfield, the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex and even to the ends of the earth.

Join us in this work in any and every way that you can. We'd love to hear from you, have you pray for us and the work, and consider how you can financially partner with us over the next two years as we seek to continue to do our part and grow this church - a worshipping community on mission - in Mansfield, TX.

Prayer Opportunities
Please pray for us and the work in Mansfield, TX.

We have always said that any work of gospel ministry cannot be done alone. It certainly take a team of people, but even more, it takes God moving - in the hearts and lives of those doing the work and being ministered to, as well as in our circumstances. Below are a list of opportunities for us to enter into prayer and ask God to move in various ways for His glory and the spread of the gospel.

  1. Sale of our Home in Santa Fe, NM. Our home is listed with an agent and has been on the market for one month. Please pray that we would see an increase in interest, showings, and mostly, an offer on the home that we can accept.
  2. Logistical details of being in Mansfield, TX and Santa Fe, NM. Until our house sells, I will be in Mansfield, TX while Maggie and the kids stay in Santa Fe, and we would like to keep this time apart to as short as possible. Please pray, in addition to the quick and effective sale of our house, that I would be able to find some living arrangement that could work for me for the month of June. Whether it's a house-sitting situation, or accepting the kindness of other's hospitality to stay with them for a couple of days at a time. Also, please pray that we would be able to find a home for rent that would work for our family in Mansfield for this next year.
  3. Raising of financial support. We are raising $100,000 over the next two years to help us lead and transition the church to be financially self-sustaining. Currently, we are at 22% of our fundraising goal. Please pray that the funds needed to lead the church to growth would come in, that potential partners' hearts would be moved to join in the work with us, so we can focus on the work of ministry in Mansfield.
  4. Wisdom and clarity as Lead Pastor of CPC Mansfield (June 1). I will be in Mansfield effective June 1, 2014, and taking over the responsibilities of the work in total at that time. Please pray for my heart and mind to be in tune to what God is doing, to listen and lead with wisdom and be an effective minister of the gospel.
  5. Preparing of hearts to hear and respond to the gospel. We are going into a new city with the hopes of reaching people with the gospel. Please pray that God would continue to be at work in preparing people's hearts to hear, receive and respond to the gospel, and come join in the work as growing disciples.
  6. Our own hearts to be filled with Christ, and nothing else. In times of transition, both exciting (for the new work in Mansfield) and at times sad (for saying goodbye to friends we're leaving), it could be easy to be distracted or distraught. Please pray that as a family, I, Maggie and the kids would all be so enamored with Jesus and what He's done for us, that it would squeeze out all else that might clamor for our undue attention. Pray that we would be so filled with Jesus that we minister out of an overflow of our hearts, rather than pressure to succeed or accomplish a set of tasks.

God's kingdom extends when His people invest in scattering the seeds of the gospel (evangelism), diligently working the ground (discipleship, worship, community and mission), and ultimately trusting God for growth. Consider how you can partner with us in the work through prayer, fostering connections, and making financial contributions.
