Happy Holidays From Southern!
Here at Southern we hope that this holiday season is treating you well. As I mentioned in last month's newsletter, Christmas is upon us. That means its time to find a tree, decorate it and wait patiently for some fat man to show up and give you gifts. Well, maybe just for the kids. If you haven't been good and your "Elf on the Shelf" knows it you can always go with plan B. Buy your own.
Black Friday rolled around and there wasn't too much hubbub. There's also been Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday. Did you check out the Southern deal on shirts? If not, don't worry there's still plenty left to shove in a stocking or two. Memberships are cool too. Just sayin'. You can also visit the Southern Business Members and use your membership to the fullest by receiving discounts on gifts this year.
Besides all that we need to remember one thing that really impacts all of us. Especially this year when so many people out there are going without. Yes, you're right. It's the massive El Nino front pushing through the US. This behemoth is one of the largest in 18 years and could totally ruin everyone's chances of a white Christmas. Even in places like BFE Minnesota they're talking like it won't happen. Yeah thanks Mother Nature. Remind me to go outside and leave a present for you. No snow wheeling for Tiny Tim. And to think he just got his suspension back under him.
Lastly, let's not forget about the last Southern event of the year and that's the 2015 SFWDA Leadership Council Meeting & Webinar. It's happening on December 5th at 9 am. If you're in Oak Ridge you can also hit the Double Tree for some live action. We want everyone to participate and join in. Even online! You can ask questions and even vote from the comfort of your own home. Don't miss this chance for your voice to be heard during some important planning sessions.
Jokes aside, I hope everyone out there in the Southern family has a wonderful holiday season. Stay safe and keep it rubber side down. We want you back in 2016. We've got a lot more in store for everyone.

Southern Jeeps Checks It Out
Recently, the guys and gals from Southern Jeeps rolled into Windrock for a fun trip of riding and camaraderie. Here they are discussing the November SFWDA Newsletter under the pavilion that the Rock Solids Jeep Club constructed. Nice work Rock Solid. Many thanks!
Major Lulz This Winter
I don't know if anyone is paying attention on the internet but there have been some fantastic memes floating around this year and lots of laughs. There have been many car & truck tips to help motorists through the cold and ice. Allow me to share a few for our mutual benefit and much needed laughs.
I hate to even think I need to say this but DO NOT try this at home!

Don't Buy From REI
A message from Del Albright with the Blue Ribbon Coalition:
I'll come right out and say it, Do Not Buy from REI as you shop this holiday season. They oppose motorized recreation for all intents and purposes, and they advocate openly for more closures and unnecessary Wilderness. They support ONLY muscle-power recreation. Period. They have given millions in grants to groups and causes that are not motor friendly. So just don't buy from REI. There are many alternatives for outdoor goodies, such as my favorite, Cabelas, or Bass Pro, or Sportsman's Warehouse.
Don't Buy From REI....please.
Feeling the Love From FourWheeler...Dixie Run
Recently, the good folks at Petersen's 4Wheel & Off-road decided to give a little love to the Dixie Run. They tagged along at this year's Run and wrote an article to let everyone know what a great Southern tradition it has become. Here's a small snippet of the article below. Follow the link at the end to read the whole thing online while also checking out some sweet pics.
For the last 29 years, the Dixie Run has been a southern tradition, hosted by the Southern Four Wheel Drive Association. Originally held in the legendary mountains of Tellico, North Carolina, the Dixie Run now resides at Golden Mountain Off-Road Park, which boasts over 500 acres of trails in Sparta, Tennessee. The event is packed with guided trail rides, vendors, an RC crawler competition, a timed rock race, and of course open trail riding...
