Several community foundations that serve Downstate Illinois, largely rural areas, seek to learn more about the attitudes of farmland owners in rural Illinois toward the communities in which they grew up. You are invited to take the survey to log in your responses about living in a rural community.

The Midwest Community Development Institute (CDI) is designed to strengthen your skills in community and economic development. Register now to secure your spot and enjoy the Early Bird Rate. You can register to attend Year 1, 2, or 3. Advanced training is also available to individuals who have completed all three years of Midwest CDI. Check out what we have planned for participants so far on our preliminary schedule.

Thanks to all our public service workers! There are many ways to celebrate public servants in your community during Public Service Recognition Week. Ideas range from sending letters to public employees to organizing a celebration showcasing the work of government agencies in your area. University of Illinois Extension's Community and Economic Development Team will host a free webinar on the
Illinois Freedom of Information Act
Thursday, May 18, 2017
 Noon – 1:00 p.m.
  
The Illinois Attorney General’s Office will highlight the training and tools required for implementing this policy at the local level.

The speaker for the webinar is Christopher Boggs, Assistant Attorney General with the Illinois Attorney General’s Office in the Public Access Bureau, who assists the Public Access Counselor in resolving Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Open Meetings Act (OMA) violations and provides educational training to state and local Illinois government entities.

The 2017 Illinois Telecommunications Association Annual Convention, June 11-13 in Osage Beach, Missouri, is an opportunity to network and get the latest information on technology and policy changes.
Registration forms are available for the Vendors' Reception and Suppliers' Exhibition from 4:30 - 6:30 pm Monday, June 12th, in the Grand Ballroom Exhibit Material Handling Instructions are available on the ITA website.
