As America becomes more racially diverse and social taboos against interracial marriage fade, a new Pew Research Center survey finds that majorities of multiracial adults are proud of their mixed-race background (60%) and feel their racial heritage has made them more open to other cultures (59%).
 
While there are many blessings that come with living in Arlington, Virginia—in all of its creative, murder-free, urbanist bliss—there are some curses. One is that you can’t curse, at least not in public, without getting slapped with a misdemeanor. That once meant a $100 fine; now, make it $250. As The Washingtonian reports, the Arlington County Board just voted to increase the fine for profanity and/or public intoxication.

Silver bars, commemorative coins, stamps, and jewelry are among more than 9,000 items worth approximately $76,000 to be auctioned online June 22-26. For questions, call (217) 557-8567.The Illinois Treasurer’s office is the custodian of unclaimed property, including lost bank accounts, insurance policy proceeds, and forgotten safe deposit boxes. Items are auctioned after private and public entities tried for at least 10 years to locate the owners. The office secures more than $2 billion in unclaimed property.
