New Illinois DCEO Website

The new Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity website is more than a source of information on the agency’s programs and services. The website showcases Illinois as the place to do business. Be sure to visit WHY ILLINOIS to see reasons Illinois is a top global destination.
Facts About Economic Inequality

The U.S. is more unequal than most of its developed-world peers. We ranked 10th out of 31 OECD countries in income inequality based on “market incomes” — that is, before taking into account the redistributive effects of tax policies and income-transfer programs such as Social Security and unemployment insurance. After accounting for taxes and transfers, the U.S. had the second-highest level of inequality, after Chile.
Health Insurance Enrollment Surges in Illinois

Early data suggest the marketplaces are far more popular among older and potentially less healthy consumers, a trend that threatens to push up premiums in the future unless the law's supporters can persuade more young, healthy Americans to sign up for insurance. About 58 percent of those who signed up for coverage in Illinois were age 45 or older, and women outnumbered men.
