Therapeutic services coming to CMEE

Dear Friends,

Can a visit to CMEE be therapeutic? Lois Silverman certainly suggests it should be in her book, The Social Work of Museums. “With their unique resources,” she writes, “museums have a powerful role to play as agents of social service. Social work is the profession that truly understands how to strengthen human relationships and foster social change. Together, there is much transformative work to be done.”

Head Start @ CMEE

Please consider donating the next time you visit the museum.

The Head Start organization plays a vital role in providing high quality, comprehensive child development and support services for low income families. As part of our ongoing efforts to support such incredibly important programs in the community, CMEE provides space for one of the 22 Head Start classes in Suffolk County. However, we're confident we can do more and we're asking museum goers to help.

From now until the end of April, we're soliciting donations of baby items, toiletries, cleaning/household supplies, and non-perishable foods (you can see the full list here). To show our appreciation for families who choose to participate, we'd like to offer an invitation to attend one of our weekend workshops for free. Please see the front desk for the full details.

Summer @ CMEE

Online Registration Is Now Open

We're happy to announce that online registration for our summer session is now open. This year's line-up of family-friendly programming promises to be the best yet.

CMEE Educator, Liz Bard, will be here for her second consecutive season and is eager to expand upon her previous experience. "The biggest thing I've learned is to incorporate the idea that it's not about the product, it's the process," she said. "I'm really excited."

Please join us this Saturday, April 5th from 10am to 2pm for CMEE's first-ever registration day! CMEE educators as well as representatives from our various partners will be on-hand to discuss our summer programs, answer any questions you may have, and help with the registration process. We look forward to seeing you there!
