Today is World Mental Health Day, which is all about recognising the importance of good mental health - for ourselves and others too.

We all go through ups and downs in life, so it's vital we develop habits to keep our minds healthy. One important way to do this is being kind to ourselves as well as to others.

Self-Compassion

Self-compassion helps keep unhelpful negative thoughts at bay. It engages our 'self-soothing' system and helps us find the courage to change our behaviour and focus on what matters.

To help spread awareness of self-compassion today, we want to share with you a fantastic video, an insightful article and the opportunity to try a free taster of an online course.

Expert video: Kristen Neff
Dr Kristin Neff is one of the leading experts on self-compassion, being the first to define and measure the concept over a decade ago. 

In this talk she shares how we can make profound changes in our lives, not because we’re worthless, inadequate or selfish, but because we care about ourselves.
