Let us spoil you royally at Hobart’s premier event of the summer

SOT sponsorship packages available

Join Her Excellency the Governor of Tasmania and other VIP guests at Hobart Real Tennis Club’s Summer of Tennis 3-5 January 2020. The world’s best real tennis players are descending on Hobart to do battle for the prestigious HRTC Governor’s Cup.

Picture yourself with a party of your most valued clients or staff: after enjoying a gourmet lunch in the historic Trophy Room, you are seated in front row seats of the dedans, sipping French champagne, entertained by some of the best tennis you’ll ever see. The field includes four of the top-10 players in the world, including Camden Riviere, the no.1 ranked player in the world, and Melbourne’s Chris Chapman, the no.3 ranked player in the world.

In addition to some cracking tennis, you and your partner get to attend the players’ reception by Her Excellency at Government House and the tournament dinner at the Athenaeum Club. Corporate sponsors will also get great exposure to the highly influential international real tennis community.

But you’ll need to be quick because seats are strictly limited. There are three sponsorship packages to choose from, starting at $300.

To find out more, contact Tim McAuley at events@hobarttennis.com.au.

Boomerang Trophy

11-25 January 2020

Signups have now closed. Good luck to the two teams from Hobart representing us this January: the Fugitives and the Devils. Let's see if we can take the trophy for Hobart two years running!

Tournois des Trois Tripots

8-13 October, Bayonne, France.

The Tripots is back again for 2020 in sunny south-west France. Hobart and Melbourne both had strong contingents in France for the 2018 event, and we're expecting to see a similar turnout for 2020. If you want to find out more, have a chat with a member who's made the trip in the past. It's an amazing experience and definitely one for the bucket list.

Class 1 Doubles

The Class 1 Doubles final is always an incredible spectacle and this year’s event was no exception. The match was played out over four tight sets, but it was Al Ramsay and Will Priestley that came out victorious.

Presidents Cup

The annual HRTC vs RMTC match, the Presidents Cup was played on November 16/17 between the two President's teams. It was a great weekend of friendly rivalry with our Hobart team doing us proud and retaking the Cup that RMTC held in 2018.

The Events & Hospitality subcommittee put on a fabulous spit-roast dinner on the Saturday night to give the opponents a chance to lick their wounds before play commenced the following day.

Thank you to RMTC for joining us for the weekend and we look forward to seeing you again next year.

The 2019 Club Champions wrapped up in late November on Finals Weekend with an amazing weekend of tennis. Thank you to all that participated over 2019 and congratulations to the finalists and champions.

HRTC vs Jesters

The annual HRTC vs Jesters match was played just before our Annual Dinner this year and went right down to the final match of the day. The Jesters sent down a strong team of enthusiastic players, providing for a great day of tennis. After the dust had settled, it was the Jesters that came out victorious by the smallest of margins.

Well played Jesters and see you next year.

Handicap Mixed Doubles

The Handicap Mixed Doubles was played on December 8 with eight pairs taking to the court over two round robin groups. It was a great day of competitive, closely matched doubles. The Sunday morning session was won by Peter Burnett and Martine Heilman.

The afternoon session was hotly contested, with plenty of close matches but it was the mother and son duo, Helen Rackham and Alex Rackham that took the spot in the final with a 7-all adv-all win over Tom McAuley and Becca Lunnon.

The final was hotly contested, going game for game until the Rackham’s finally drew ahead and won 8/6.

Thank you to all that came out to play and congratulations to Alex and Helen Rackham.

Toates Classic Doubles

2019 finished with a bang with the Toates Classic Doubles. It was a great weekend of handicap doubles with three groups battling it out over the weekend. Jo Graddon/Dave Graddon, Charlotte Toates/Beth Schiwy and Peter Burnett/Dan O’Toole who had all won their groups progressed to the final showdown on Sunday.

Congratulations to the 2019 Toates Classic champions, Charlotte Toates and Beth Schiwy.
