From the President: COVID-19 update

The committee has met regularly over the last six weeks, ensuring that the club remains solvent during the COVID-19 shutdown. I am pleased to be able to report that we have successfully navigated the JobKeeper program, and the club is now receiving financial support for Brett, Barry and Carolyn through that program.

This, together with the outstanding loyalty from our members, who have continued to support the club through regular monthly subscription contributions and donations, makes me confident that we will be well-placed to restart the club when conditions allow.

I know that you are all keen to get back on court. You will be aware of the COVID-19 Roadmap released by the Premier last week, which provides for the restart of indoor sports from June 15. The committee has begun work on a restart plan. The Finance and Risk Subcommittee, including our Safety Officer, has been developing a COVID-19 Safety Plan, in line with Government guidelines, in anticipation of sector-specific guidelines for sporting clubs becoming available soon.

At this point in time, I can’t tell you when the club will reopen, but, subject to the government approving our restart plan, I anticipate that a partial restart of tennis play, albeit under strict hygiene and physical distancing protocols, will be possible in the near future.

I will keep you advised as soon as I know more.

Interested in leasing a carpark?

Two spaces have become available in the carpark. Before we get the leasing agent involved, the club is offering the spaces to members first. If you are interested, please contact the Treasurer at or by the button below. But don’t wait too long as these spaces don’t come up very often and, once the COVID-19 shutdown begins to ease, will again be in high demand.

Ever thought about joining the committee?

Following the untimely death of Graham Flower and recent resignation of Jeremy Rackham due to work commitments, the committee is getting a bit thin, figuratively that is.

The committee is seeking expressions of interest from any full member who would be interested in joining. Currently, the committee meets once a fortnight, but, normally, it meets monthly.

The workload depends on how much you are prepared to take on, but you should allow for a minimum of 3 hours a month. The appointment will be just for the five- to six-month period until the next AGM, at which time, all positions on the committee are vacated and up for re-election.

If you have ever contemplated joining the committee, this is the perfect opportunity to find out what it’s all about.

If you are interested, please contact the president at or by the button below. The committee will vote on these appointments at their next meeting on Sunday 24 May.

Upcoming events

All club events are on hold until further notice. We will keep you up to date with any changes as they occur.

International events

In these highly uncertain times, the majority of sporting events have been abandoned or postponed until later in 2020. We obviously don't yet know when sport and travel bans will be lifted, but the organising committee want you to know that the Trois Tripots will go ahead if at all possible.

Clearing the confusion on dress code

The club has been operating under a de facto dress code, but, as with most unwritten rules, the lack of a written code has been the cause of some confusion, especially with new members and visitors, about what is expected of players and guests when playing socially, in competitions, or just in and around the club rooms.

So to assist members and visitors to better understand what is expected, we have now put our dress code into writing, which can be found on the club website under Rules>Dress code
