Happy Holidays from Operation SEAs The Day

As the New Year is about to begin, be sure to mark your calendars for Year 3 of Operation SEAs The Day Warrior Beach Week, taking place September 8-13th 2015. Planning has begun and our organizers are excited about having another fun and impactful week.
Operation Seas The Day is grateful for some additional support we've received in the off-season:
  • Heritage Shores Military Club for its support and contribution
  • Country Cafe in the Bayville Center for its contribution of proceeds from its Soup Sale
  • and the Fenwick Crab House for its contribution from an event it held to benefit our warrior families in the coming year.
Board members met with Wounded Warrior Project staff this month as we planned for the 2015 event. The WWP staff has continued to receive unanimous excellent feedback from families who have participated and they're 100% in our corner. They hailed  Operation SEAs The Day as unique and beneficial to the warriors. We look forward to the continuation of our ongoing relationship with WWP.

The Bethany community continues to give and support our warrior families.  Home owners have opened their homes during this off season and some warrior families returned to enjoy the Bethany area. We have been told by these generous Bethany owners “they were touched with joy and happiness” to have the warrior families use their properties.   And “it brings them personal happiness to think of the family using their house” for a short break during the winter months.  Operation SEAs The Day is very thankful to the Bethany Beach community for their ongoing support to warrior families.   Some community members have also given personally to needy warrior families during the holiday season.  The Bethany community has remembered the warrior families and their continued sacrifice to preserve our way of life. Operation SEAs The Day is not a once a year event for the Bethany community.  It is heartwarming to see the continued involvement of some home owners, business owners, and residents.
It's also great to hear that families are communicating with each other. Isolation is one of the toughest battles our warriors face and we continue to ask that they keep in touch with us but even more important---with each other. Don't let the contacts made during the beach week fade away.

For anyone interested in learning more about what our warrior heroes are faced with there were a number of excellent books about their unique plight written in the past year. Two that were very noteworthy were Redeployment and Thank You for Your Service.

To the community of Bethany Beach and the surrounding communities, we are exceedingly grateful for your adoption and your embracing this cause. There is no way it could have been so meaningful without your participation. It's impossible to imagine a community with a bigger heart.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS to all and may your families have a safe and happy holiday season.
