About the Poet: Merike Lugus

Some years ago, I was involved in many poetry readings around Cobourg, (many in Meet at 66). Aside from writing poetry, I am also a visual artist, still at work in my studio. This poem, (a sequel to the poem The Owl and the Pussycat), has been in my head for decades--it does not have the charm and melancholy of Edward Lear's original, but having witnessed the results from such unusual relationships over the years, I couldn't resist imaging the ultimate outcome...a very satisfying one, I believe.

Poetry in Community

Since January 2021, we've been working on creating an evolving eChapbook. This has been a dynamic community project. Each month offers a new prompt. Feel free to submit a poem based on any of the months. Click here to read more. You only have November and December left to submit your poems! Then we will look for a way to turn this work into a book!
