The military chapel at Garrison St. Jean is searching for a new director of music. If you might know someone who would be interested in this opportunity, would you please have them contact the undersigned by phone or email. Upon receiving their name, address, and telephone number I will ensure they are aware of the official “request for tender” which should be distributed this month by the base.
The director of music would play and sing each Sunday with the selected hymns or other music using either: the electric organ, electric keyboard, and/or guitar. As a music leader they may be required to lead and/or cooperate with other musicians and vocalists. The director of music would be available for religious services that may be part of the life of the chapel that are outside the Sunday morning(for example, Good Friday/ Christmas Eve) and would have first right of refusal for weddings, funerals etc.
We would like them to have credentials verifying their expertise with their musical instrument. This could be credentials with the Royal Conservatory of Music, a degree or diploma from university or college, or years of experience which has given the director of music the professional ability to lead music in the religious setting. Familiarity with traditional Christian hymns and contemporary praise music is an asset. The director of music must also be able to read and sing in both English and French. The chapel would provide the director of music with electric organ, electric keyboard, and/ or acoustic guitar.
A Sunday includes both a Catholic Mass between 0900 and 1000 and a Protestant Service between 1030 and 1125 at the “Mega”. The contract period would be until 31 March 2015.
The director of music will be paid a lump sum on a monthly basis according to the number Sundays and/or the number of services outside Sunday.
Thanks and God Bless
The Reverend Judson Bridgewater, UE, RMC, MDiv, CD.

Watch the MSO inaugural organ concert on your computer now
Tickets for the inaugural concerts featuring the new Casavant organ in the Maison Symphonique have been sold out for the past year; however, an additional concert is scheduled for Monday, May 9. I would imagine that those tickets have now also been sold out. There is good news if you have not been able to attend any of the inaugural concerts.
The entire May 29th concert is available for free for a limited amount of time at www.medici.tv. All you need to do is register. Live concerts are free; otherwise, you might consider taking a subscription to see archived material. With multiple camera angles, you will be able to see how Olivier Latry manages the playing of the first concert piece: Toccata and Fugue in d minor by, guess who: J. S. Bach.
