25 July 2016
Kia ora koutou katoa
will be held at TAPAC in Auckland on 21-22 November 2016. It will bring together a variety of people to discuss issues facing contemporary dance in New Zealand and how to build a sustainable dance industry for the contemporary sector.
There has not been a national gathering of the contemporary dance sector since the National Dance Conference, Tuanui Whakamaru – Dance Canopy 2005
held in Auckland. Following the work undertaken by CNZ as part of their Dance Review in 2013 (see DANZ Magazine article attached), and the findings from DANZ’s Change Strategy initiative in 2015 (summary attached), DANZ is leading this initiative to bring people together to discuss sustainability and the future of contemporary dance.
As a valued member of the dance community, we would like you to be a part of the change. Your participation will help guide DANZ’s direction in shaping and/or contributing to the programme for the Dance Hui.
- Audience First > Growing a fan base | Production of dance in New Zealand
- Collaboration is Gold > Working with others | Independent artist network
- Facts & Myths > Being realistic | Knowing how the arts/dance industry operates
- The Money-Go-Round > The funding game | Sustained development of choreographers
Our aim for TOGETHER/MOVING FORWARD
is that participants will leave feeling renewed, energised, positive and above all connected to other members of the contemporary dance sector in New Zealand. We would really appreciate your involvement in this project. ‘Expressions of Interest’ form must be received by DANZ - email firstname.lastname@example.org
by 5pm, 15 August 2016.
