President’s Note: My volunteer work in service to UXPA Los Angeles has been some of the most rewarding work of my life, and at times some of the most challenging! I’m constantly learning from my fellow leaders, figuring out resourceful ways of getting things done with limited funds as well as meeting people from many backgrounds and places. I also enjoy being a sort of ambassador for the UX profession and for my hometown of Los Angeles.

We have a lot of projects going on at UXPALA and are looking for good hard-working and service-oriented people to fulfill these open seats.

As part of our leadership team, you will learn management and leadership skills, how to be part of a supportive peer group, how to work for the community at large, and as a result experience a huge sense of satisfaction and continual growth. Please join us!

We bid you a wonderful closure to 2018 with the last newsletter of the year, and we hope that you will continue to grow alongside your passion to innovate solutions for daily processes, technology, and of course most importantly... users! We are here to serve our family, friends, neighbors, community, and humanity. 

During this time, we have been reflecting on how this year has impacted our personal growth as user experience designers and hope you do the same. We posed the question of how we can incorporate these lessons into our work for 2019 and beyond.

As the global design community is moving towards a universally more sustainable approach to designing technology and connectivity, we have curated an introductory focus on Green UX and best sustainability practices in the Resources section below for you to become familiar with for 2019.
