C.C. Mellor Memorial Library has always provided the communities we serve with access to resources and the opportunity for education, entertainment and enlightenment all for free, no matter who you are.
This November, we took that up a notch.
We did something that has never before been done in Allegheny County, and something that hadn’t before been done on such a broad scale in the state of Pennsylvania.
Along with Braddock Carnegie Library Association and the Carnegie Free Library of Swissvale, C.C. Mellor partnered with the Woodland Hills School District to provide every student with a public library card.
Every single student.
And this isn’t a one-off.
Every student who enters Woodland Hills from now on will get a library card. Beginning in kindergarten, these young learners will have our full physical and online collections of books, music, movies, magazines and more at their fingertips. They’ll have access to our tremendous catalog of physical and online resource materials for supplemental learning at age-appropriate levels. They’ll find the chance to discover new worlds and a community of support waiting to welcome them.
We can only do these things through the generous funding from our patrons. You make this possible.
How you can make a difference
Today is Give Big Pittsburgh, when you have the chance to support the nonprofits that are important to you through a single online platform.
Can you help us reach our goal of raising $6,000 so that we can continue to serve our community with meaningful programs such as Library Cards For All?
Our Leadership Circle has graciously offered to match donations today dollar-for-dollar up to $2,500, so your gift will go even further. Also, anyone who donates today will be entered into a drawing to win a $50 gift card thanks to our kind neighbors at 3 Rivers Outdoor Company. Located in Regent Square, 3 Rivers Outdoor Co. is Pittsburgh's only independent outdoor shop for new and used outdoor equipment and apparel.
Your gift is so very important to us. Thank you for remembering us on this day when Pittsburgh is proud to give to those institutions, organizations and causes that make our city so great.
