CloudingSMEs Newsletter

Who we are

The CloudingSMEs support action is a joint effort of SME Associations, SMEs and clouding computing experts, which will act as a catalyst for the accelerated and successful adoption of cloud computing by European SMEs. The project will take a comprehensive approach to cloud computing by SMEs, which will consider both supply side (i.e. innovative ICT SMEs with expertise on cloud computing) and demand side (i.e. use of the cloud by SMEs) needs.

Clouding SMEs News

Dear Community,

This is the third issue of our CloudingSME Newsletter which covers the period June until October 2014. Our CloudingSME project is already halfway and we keep on looking for the valuable input of our SMEs on how they conceive the cloud, which barriers they encounter or experience, both at macro as on micro level and how the Cloud can improve their competitiveness and help them in their daily work. So your input as be it as a Cloud user or/and Cloud provider remain important and we invite you to encourage other entrepreneurs to give us their feedback. This can be done through our on-line questionnaire.

We would also appreciate your feedback on the different tools that we have developed and that are now on-line. With your input we can improve them!

Last but not least: if you as an entrepreneur has positive experiences with Cloud solutions tell it to us! You can read more about it further on in this Newsletter.

It is very important to get your opinion about various aspects of Cloud Computing and IT modernization. So we would kindly ask you to participate by registering to CloudingSMEs and to provide your feedback via our surveys.

With kind regards
Your CloudingSMEs team

Software Services & Cloud Computing ‘Concertation’ Meeting

The European Commission DG Connect organised on the 11th September a ’concertation’ meeting in Brussels in order to provide contributions for the preparation of the Horizon 2020 work program (LEIT ICT WP 2016-2017). UEAPME’s Enterprise Policy Director Luc Hendrickx, representing the CloudingSME Project, spoke in the panel on "How the WP 2016-17 can support SMEs, Start-ups and European Innovation." He started with giving an overview of the SME landscape in the EU, stressing that 50% of all enterprises are one-person companies and that 92% of the EU enterprises employ less than 10 employees. Every EU policy should take into account that the owner manager of an SME is the final and only responsible in these enterprises. After a short presentation of the CloudingSME project, he emphasised that follow-up programs focusing on awareness raising, training, information and the development of adapted toolboxes and support tools for SMEs remain necessary. The program should also help ICT SMEs implement and deliver cloud innovations for specific niche markets.
