Editors Note...
We started the weekly emails because due to many factors the monthly newsletter is not always accurate. Things here run very fluid and are always changing.

This week is the perfect example! There were so many changes that we decided that a mid week email edition was needed!

Please see below for details. We have added a celebration of life ceremony for a dear friend, menus have changed or been canceled, and help has been requested at the Jacksonville National cemetery.

Thank you again for allowing us to reach out to you each and every week. Our goal with these email is to keep you informed on everything Post related, and we hope that you find it helpful through out the week.

Celebration of Life
Friday, January 17th at 5pm

Please join us this Friday to celebrate the life and times of Doris Hood, a dear friend and an amazing woman.

The best gift in life are the moments we are able to share together, please share this time with us to honor our dear friend.

Thank you for a great giving tree! Because of the success of that fund raiser we now have the funds to do something that we have talked about for a while. We are going to provide our troop families with a little help by providing some much need services. Services that we would like to pay you, our Post family, to perform. The 5th District would like to start a drive to fund a memorial marker at the Jacksonville National Cemetery. This marker would recognize the entire American Legion Family from the 5th District to honor those who served and are laid to final rest at the cemetery. It is anticipated this can become a reality in 2015.

So we are now calling on those who are artistic or creative to submit some design to be considered. We will need such a design before we can get any pricing proposals or put this project out for bid.

Terry is out sick. Danny will be cooking up Terry's regular menu. Menu includes items like Burgers, Chicken Tenders, Fries, Wings, and More!

Dinner has been canceled due to Celebration of Life Service for Doir Hood. Please bring a covered dish to share.
Steak Bingo will still be held at 630pm

Sunday, January 19th
Please note that breakfast will only be served from 9am to 11am in order to give the Fancy Pants Crew time to cook.

Fancy Pants Fish fry will be held in the afternoon.

Monday, January 20th
JD and crew are at it again! They will be serving up Mussels for dinner! They will also be cooking up sliders for those of you that do not like seafood.

Celebration of Life
On December 12th, 2013 dear friend and post family member Lu Fosdick passed away. Due to the location of the services and time of year many Post members were not able to attend.

The family is inviting all of you a Celebration of Life Party for Lu on Friday, January 24th at 7pm in the main canteen area. There will be no official service just a time of fellowship with her friends and family.

We hope that you, her Post 129 family, can join her family in the celebration of a life well lived.

Saturday, January 18th - Wreath Pick Up
The time has come to pick up the wreaths that were placed at the Jacksonville National Cemetery during the Wreaths Across America 2013 Remembrance program.

For those with pickup trucks and trailers please be at the cemetery by 9:00am. All others please arrive no earlier than 9:15am. This time split will allow those with trucks and trailers to maneuver freely to get into position for the wreath pick up.

This year’s forecast is for clear with a morning low of 35 degrees. As with the wreath laying, clean up is a rain or shine event.

Remember to bring cheap gloves to handle the wreaths, sap is still running! If you have a strong wooden pole bring it, it will help remove a number of wreaths at one time and save your back!

Spots are filling up fast! Stop by the Post this week to make sure that you are not left out of the fun!

We now have over 40 players signed up to play on Saturday Mornings. We would love to have you join us.

If interested please give Sterling a call at 294-4234 or e-mail him at sterling1960@comcast.net.

He sends out an e-mail every Tuesday to find out who will be playing the following Saturday.

We need to have individuals that are going to play let Sterling know so that he can schedule the proper number of t-times. First t-time is around 11:15am. Have some fun, join us.
