American Legion Post 129

Weekly Update August 4th to August 10th

So I believe we are are over 5 weeks closed this time. Still waiting for news on when we will be able to reopen. We are hoping to hear something soon but no one truly knows. In the meantime, as we wait, your officers are getting together to discuss possible ideas for our current situation. As soon as any decisions have been made I will let you know.

In the meantime please take the time to contact your elected officials and let them know your thoughts on the closure of veterans clubs. The more people that take the time to contact them and express their support for the veterans clubs and plead our case the better. Contact information is below.

Also please take the time to fill out the survey on our website. The survey let's us know what you want to see from Post 129. Link to survey is below.

We are still exploring options as to how to move forward in this uncertain time.
We will keep you updated with any new information.

There has been a recent push within our veterans community asking our members to reach out to Governor Rob DeSantis as well as our other elected officials and ask them to reconsider banning alcohol sales at our veterans clubs. We urge anyone who believes that Veteran Service Organizations are a needed and necessary to please reach out and let them know. Below is Governor DeSantis contact information.

We have set up a survey on our web page to get your thoughts. We are conducting this survey to see what you all would like to see being done at Post 129 during the closure.

All questions are assuming that nothing has changed and that we are not allowed to serve alcohol.

We want to know your thoughts. Do you want us to open for to go food only? Or to come hang out? If we where open would you come? And if yes why? The more information we have the better we can serve you. Link to survey is below.

I have had many members reach out to me and ask that I make the virtual tip jar available again. I cannot tell you how thankful the staff was during the last closure for all of your donations. We understand that everyone is struggling right now and please do not feel any pressure to donate.

The tip jar is being made available again for those members that feel in their hearts that they want to contribute. Again thank you to everyone who donated over the last few month the staff could not be more appreciative and thank you to those members that have reached out and want to donate again. It is because of members like all of you that we have the wonderful Post we have.
