Nothing new to report on the opening. We are still waiting for approval from the state. As soon as we get any new information we will pass it on. From what we have been told we will get the release in phase two. Again please understand we do not hold a restaurant license which is why we are not currently open. We do not want to risk any fines or losing our liquor license by opening before we are allowed. ABT has already revoked 160 liquor licenses and we do not want to be included in that list. We have waited this long we can go another week or two. We are crossing our fingers and hoping for good news soon.
In the meantime please rest assured that we have used this down time to take care of some projects at the Post. The doors to the kitchen, hallway, and Auxiliary room have all been replaced with new doors with windows. The Post has been scrubbed from top to bottom including all coolers and walk ins, light fixtures, fans, duct work, tables, chairs, and all surfaces. We have also taken care of some other smaller projects during this time.
The staff is ready to come and do one more final cleaning right before we open and we have a company lined up to professionally sanitize the post. Most likely when we open you will see a new table lay out as well as some, if not all of the bar stools removed, this is being done to comply with the social distancing mandate by the state and for your safety.New hand sanitizer stations have been set up throughout the Post as well.
As the state begins to slowly reopen we have noticed participation dropping in our weekly online events as well as our weekend meals. Because of this we are dropping most of our virtual events and canceling our meals until we reopen. For right now we will still be hosting Open Mic night on Thursday, Saturday Night Live with Rob and Trivia on Mondays.
Hope you are all doing well and we look forward to seeing you all in the very near future.

The Auxiliary will not be holding elections this year. Their E Board has voted to appoint the officers that were nominated at the last meeting.
The Auxiliary has taken on a new project, They are helping to support First Coast Honor Flight. Honor Flight is a non-profit organization created solely to honor America's veterans for all their sacrifices. Our heroes are flown to Washington, DC to visit and reflect at their memorials.
Funds are raised to ensure that every WWII, Korean War, and Vietnam War Veteran can make this trip at no cost to them. With your support we can turn the dream of visiting their memorial into a reality for these heroes.
This is a unique opportunity to show our gratitude to these Heroes who made it possible for us to enjoy the freedoms we have today. Our trip's priorities are to ensure the safety and dignity of our Veterans! To enhance the experience each Veteran is paired with a Guardian escort and has a wheelchair available. This is a long day and there is a fair amount of walking. In addition, we travel with several staff members to include a medical doctor and videographer.
How can you help?
- Help them locate and register Veterans
- Become a Guardian Escort to accompany a Veteran on the trip and donate $400 towards the cost
- Volunteer your time to help FCHF accomplish their mission
- Help make these trips possible by making a donation
- Donate in-kind goods and services to off set expenses
Please visit their website for additional details.
Have extra time on your hands? This is a great time to pull out your extra Christmas cards you have and start writing messages to our troops. We now have a Facebook Page and a Facebook Group - these both have a very specific purpose. The Facebook Page is the one we have had for many years where you get the latest information directly from me.
The Facebook Group was set up so that all of you had a way to connect with each other and us during this 30 day shut down. Please use the group page to reach out if you need help, let us know how you are doing, or just say hi. Please use the below links to visit both and feel free to invite your friends to do the same.

Support the Bartenders at Post 129
Our wonderful Post 129 officers have gotten together and voted to have Post 129 help cover some of the missing income from this closure. I can not express to you how thankful the staff was upon receiving that news.
But many of you, our amazing members have contacted us and inquired if there was a way that you can donate to them as well. Our Post 129 bartenders have been there for us through thick and thin; and we truly appreciate your concern for them.
If you would like to donate towards the virtual tip jar you can do so by clicking the link below. Proceeds for this fundraiser will be divided among the bartenders at Post 129 with guidance from management.
I cannot express to you how much everyone here at Post 129 appreciates your generosity. We are blessed to have staff that have been with us for many years and this is all because of you are amazing members.
We truly think of you all as family and cannot express how touched we are by you donating your hard earned funds to the virtual tips jar during this difficult time. This is a trying time for our whole country but if we continue to ban together and help each other, as you have, we will come out of this stronger.
