Celebration of Life
On December 12th, 2013 dear friend and post family member Lu Fosdick passed away. Due to the location of the services and time of year many Post members were not able to attend.

The family is inviting all of you a Celebration of Life Party for Lu on Friday, January 24th at 7pm in the main canteen area. There will be no official service just a time of fellowship with her friends and family.

We hope that you, her Post 129 family, can join her family in the celebration of a life well lived.

Stop on by the Post on Saturday Night for a new type of raffle, "The Queen of Diamonds" will be played every Saturday at 7pm.

The 5th District would like to start a drive to fund a memorial marker at the Jacksonville National Cemetery. This marker would recognize the entire American Legion Family from the 5th District to honor those who served and are laid to final rest at the cemetery. It is anticipated this can become a reality in 2015.

So we are now calling on those who are artistic or creative to submit some design to be considered. We will need such a design before we can get any pricing proposals or put this project out for bid.

Wall of Honor

We are attempting to start a new tradition at American Legion Post 129. We would like to place up pictures of all ACTIVE DUTY Personnel, in Uniform on our wall.

Please give a picture of your service person to the Commander Danny Rodriguez or Jerry Brandt.

Attention ALR members - Riders needed for the escort from Post 316 to Post 129 on Sunday, February 2nd for the Four Chaplains Ceremony.

ALR members are meeting at 12:30 with KSU @ 1:00pm to head to Post 129 for the 2pm service.

Looking for a place to watch the Grammys? Why not come on down to the post, with nine large screen tv's you'll catch all the action and acts! Plus we all know it's always more fun when you watch these shows with a group, and what better group then your Post family.

Because of the success of the Auxiliary December fund raiser we now have the funds to do something that we have talked about for a while. We are going to provide our troop families with a little help by providing some much need services. Services that we would like to pay you, our Post family, to perform. Friday, January 24 - Legion
The Legion will be serving up a Country Fried Steak Dinner. Dinner begins at 530pm. Arrive early as Friday night dinners normally sell out fast!

Sunday, January 25th
The breakfast crew will be hard at work serving you up fantastic meal from 9am to noon.

With the 2014 Winter Olympics just 16 days away the world is gearing up and so are we here at Post 129! Plan on making us your headquarters for the Winter Games. With 9 large TV's you won't miss a minute of the action!

This will be the 2nd year for the Florida In-State Legacy Scholarship Ride. If you can't make the whole ride, just jump on wherever you can and ride for however long you can. Total ride approx. 1180 miles over 7 days and stopping at 42 posts.

Starting at American Legion Post 129 in Jacksonville Beach on the 27th of March 2014 and zigzagging through the state ending on 2nd of April 2014 and American Legion Post 137 in Jacksonville.

Join us for the Four Chaplains Ceremony Sunday, February 2nd at 2pm. Each year in February, Post 129 joins in the national observance of the Four Chaplains Memorial Service.

This year marks the 71st anniversary of the sinking of the USAT Dorchester, during which the four chaplains aboard gave up their life jackets so others could survive.
