American Legion Post 129

New Years Eve Party!

2020 is almost over and we can not think of a better reason to celebrate! So plan on celebrating the New Year with us here at Post 129. We always have a great time and always have a few surprises in store for the evening. This year is shaping up to be even better and we can't wait to celebrate the end of this year with you all!

In the Freedom Hall we are extremely excited to announce that we will have DJ Jaxcin starting at 7 pm. He is an amazing DJ  and I promise you you will have a great time! With this stellar entertainment like this I promise there is no where else you will want to be!

Remember there will NOT be a cover charge. We like to throw what we call no fuss parties for New Years Eve. Great Entertainment, Simple Decorations, and Wonderful Friends. What more can you ask for?

There will be party favors, a champagne toast, and a bubble wrap stomp at midnight but other than that it is just come, party, drink, and dance!

Please note that we are canceled the New Years Eve dinner but not the party! If you have already signed up for the dinner please see Brandi for a full refund.

Since there will be no food available if you would like to bring food for your table to share please feel free to do so.

The Latest News, Events, and Menus for the Week of
Dec 29th to Jan 4th

Friday, January 1st
Join us for the SAL dinner this Friday. They will be serving up the traditional southern meal of black eyed peas, collard greens, ham, cornbread and dessert. Let's start this year off the right way with as much luck as we can get!

Why this meal? Well.....
Southern tradition holds that on New Year's Day you should eat black-eyed peas for luck and prosperity.  To really ensure a good year, add a mess o' greens for wealth. Many cultures also believe eating pork on New Year's Day brings good luck because pigs root around with their snouts in a forward motion. (We want to move forward, not backward in the new year).
Your 2020 membership expires at the end of the year - time to renew your membership is now!

All staff will be asking to see your 2021 cards starting on January 1st. Be ready to show your card proudly.

Without a valid 2021 card we will not be able to serve you in the canteen so please be sure to get those memberships paid.
Saturday, January 2nd
Join us on Saturday for the Queens raffle and food from the Mike's Yum Yum come and get ya sum food truck. They will be here starting at 530 pm. I talked to them today and they are excited to be coming back again.

They have asked though that I inform you all that they do not have the staff to bring the food inside so please to sure to pick up your food from the truck. They let me know that they normally can get orders together pretty fast so just be sure to check back.

We want to provide you with an update of how we at Post 129 are addressing the challenges of the corona virus.  We know that all of you have been impacted in one way or another, and we know that you realize this is also affecting our Post family.

We regret to inform you that once again we have recently been made aware that we have had members have tested positive for COVID-19 and have been at the Post within the last two weeks. We cannot release the names of the members due to privacy issues. Our thoughts are with all who have been impacted by the corona virus and wish all a quick recovery.

While we take pride in our everyday practices to maintain a clean and sanitary environment here at our Post, we have also implemented additional measures that reflect the recommended standards of the CDC.  We have set up a regular sanitation service to be done by a professional company and will be having all employees get tested regularly to ensure their safety and yours.

We also must stress that we need all of you to practice personal responsibility in order to keep the Post safe. If you are feel unwell, exhibit any symptoms of COVID, or have been in contact with anyone that is positive for COVID please stay home and get tested. There are many locations to get tested and most insurance will cover the cost. If you need help in finding a location please call the Post and we would be happy to help.

Please remember we have never had to handle a situation like this in the past and we are trying our very best to keep all staff and members safe while still opening the Post for your enjoyment. We recognize that these are unsettling times for all of us but as a Post family we will get through this together.
It is with a heavy heart that we inform you of the passing of our dear friend, Post member, and past Post Commander John Burroughs.
