IACC Taqwa Seminary presents, Islamic Legal Theory 1, an introductory course on Uṣūl al-Fiqh. Uṣūl al-Fiqh is a science which outlines the methodology that must be used by anyone who attempts to pronounce the Islamic legal ruling on an issue. Learning Uṣūl al-Fiqh gives us an understanding and appreciation for the process of ijtihād, and empowers us to evaluate the legitimacy of a legal opinion.

At a time when there are a myriad of opinions about almost everything, and so many people who quote Quran and Sunna to promote their own interpretations of Islam, it has become more important than ever to equip ourselves with the ability to discern right from wrong.

In this course you will learn about the sources of Islamic law, the meanings and types of al-Ḥukm al-Sharʿī and the rules for interpreting the sacred texts. This course will give you an insight into the greatness of Muslim scholars, give you a preview into the complexity and precision of Islamic legal theory and inspire you to pursue more sacred knowledge.
