The Rap Up for December, 2018

The last quarter of 2018 has presented some amazing events and album releases. We finished our Stop the Violence campaign for the year and released a Street Certified Crew compilation/music video to celebrate. Some of our soldiers released solo projects this quarter as well. As we typically do, we are also releasing our 8th Hip Holla Days compilation within the upcoming weeks. It has been a busy and very productive year for G-Life Outreach and we look forward to 2019.

All year long, G-Life Outreach has been promoting our Stop the Violence Campaign. This campaign was started to help bring awareness to the senseless violence in our communities that have not only claimed the lives of our youth, but also our law enforcement officers. All year long, this campaign included concerts in city parks and online promotion. The conclusion of these events resulted in the release of a new compilation and music video called "We All In." Please support this project to help G-Life continue in its efforts to leave a positive impact on our inner city and help change the minds of those caught up in the cycle of violence. The new music video, for the lead single "We All In", is available for viewing on youtube
The compilation is available for purchase and streaming at CDBaby.
"We All In" Street Certified Crew
In case you missed the "We All In" release party, it was off the chain. All of the Street Certified Crew showed out to perform various songs from the the new compilation as well as new solo material. It was a once in a lifetime event. Songs were performed by the Colonel MVP, Rollah, D-Ro, Fame Montana, the Mi Hente Crew, Genesis, & Illustrate. To end the night, national recording artist Skrip blessed the mic and finished off the event. It was the perfect event to finish the "Stop the Violence" campaign for 2018.
As usual, G-Life held an outreach for the homeless in downtown Colorado Springs to help offer hope and supplies for those living on the streets of our city. Volunteers handed out clothing, food, and other necessary items to help lighten the burdens of the city's homeless. These opportunities are efforts to help encourage others with God's love and build relationships within the community. Homelessness is a serious issue and G-Life takes an active role into helping those who are less fortunate.
Fame Montana dropped an eight song EP of pure fire in October, called Soul Food. Not only is he brutally honest about his own personal issues, but he boldly speaks the message of the cross within a real world context. If you have not yet heard Soul Food, it is available for streaming and download on his Bandcamp page. This project is a must if you follow Fame's work! If you have never heard his music before, this project is the perfect introduction.
Ill Brio is another new EP from the G-Life camp. After eight full lengths albums, Illustrate has released his third EP. This project is a collaboration between himself and rapper/producer Elan Brio. This project features seven new songs of raw boom bap! Guest artists include J River, Shen, Manchild (Mars Ill/Move Merchants), Elan Brio, Mongo Omotunde, and Acacia. This project is available at all digital retailers including Apple Music and Spotify.

Soldier of the Quarter:
For those who are not aware Rollah aka DJ 4:12, became an ordained pastor last year. Since that time he has helped as as associate pastor at Breathe Church in Colorado Springs, CO. His contributions include preaching sermons, baptisms, and serving the community. Over the last few months however, the Lead Pastor at Breathe has stepped down and asked Rollah to take over that responsibility. As head pastor Rollah intends to keep the church moving toward the mission of developing disciples and continuing the church’s efforts in the community. Rollah has a raw passion for the Word of God and the community the Breathe Church serves.
Not only is Rollah a pastor, he has also remained a pillar within the G Life organization. As one of the earliest members of the organization, he has helped organize events, performed as an artist, written and recorded music, and created graphics for albums and logos. Rollah has most definitely proven himself as a Day One! His dedication to G-Life and the Gospel Rap community has allowed him to mentor new artists and youth throughout the city. Salute to Pastor James Medina aka Rollah/DJ 4:12! Thank you for all that you do! G-Life would not be what it is today without your help!
