Lee, Holston to headline Summit on Black Church

Bishop Linda Lee and S.C. Resident Bishop Jonathan Holston will be among those speaking at this year's UMCSC Summit on the Black Church, which will focus on global health issues facing the church and its people. The Advocate has the story here: Read on.

ChristWalkers: Reaching the Unchurched

The South Carolina Conference of The United Methodist Church has started a fresh expression ministry in the Rock Hill District known as ChristWalkers’ Ministries. The ministry launched Aug. 6 at a local Walmart. The Advocate has the story in its September edition, here.

South Carolina stories of racial awakening

Read "Racism is a Human Problem" by the Rev. Drew Martin, the sixth narrative accepted for publication in the Ad­vocate’s new South Carolina Stories of Racial Awakening Project. Ten narratives will be published in all in the Advocate's aware- ness project. Read on.
Sacred Conversations Part 2:
Training Conversation Leaders Around Race,
Police-Involved Shootings and the Church’s Response

A tri-district gathering of the UMC’s Florence, Hartsville and Marion districts is set for this Saturday, September 17, from 10 a.m. to noon, at Highland Park UMC, Florence. Laity and clergy are encouraged to join the gathering for a time of finding a voice to help lead change in our homes, churches and communities. For more information:  the Rev.
