Windows 10 could be hogging your network!
August 5, 2015 by Jon Kamm
If you have decided to take the plunge and install Windows 10 here is a feature I would strongly recommend you disable. By default Windows 10 will use your Internet connection to share updates with other people on the Internet. By doing this, it can speed up other Windows users downloading updates and keep Microsoft's servers from being slammed by everyone downloading updates; however, it can severely degrade your Network performance as it hogs your upload bandwidth. Here is how to disable this "feature".
- Search for "Windows Update Settings"
- Click Advanced Options
- Click Choose how updates are delivered
- Turn the feature "Off" or at least select the option to only send updates to PC's on your local network.
Let me know if you have any questions.
