Upcoming Events 2022
Sep 23 - Oct 16, 2022
Culture Days is a national celebration of arts and culture. At the end of each September, millions of people attend thousands of free participatory arts and culture events across the country both in-person and online. Culture Days programs invite the public to get hands-on and behind-the-scenes to highlight the importance of arts and culture in our communities.

ACP groups will be participating in Culture Days with displays, demonstrations and more, in the concourse, downstairs in Peterborough Square.  This is also a great opportunity to find out about the classes offered this fall.  We look forward to sharing our artisan skills with you and giving a tour of the Artisans Centre.

Sat - Sep 24, 10:00 am - 3:00 pm - The Kawartha Gourd Artists will set up displays and demos about Gourd Art and have a make and take table for you to try your hand at gourd art.

Sat - Oct 1, 10:00 am- 3:00 pm - . Through displays and demonstrations the Peterborough Weavers & Spinners Guild will be informing people about the path from sheep to yarn to finished item and all of the fibre arts their members do.

Sat - Oct 15, 10:00 am - 3;00 pm - Our Woodturners will be in action demonstrating woodturning and showing their newly equipped workshop.

Volunteers are welcome to help out for a few hours on any of those days.
Indoor Yard Sale
Saturday, Oct 22
9:00 am -1:00 pm
We have raised money for Five Counties Children’s Centre over many years, and recently for the Ukraine, now it is time to raise money for the centre's Children's and Outreach Programs. Artisans Centre Peterborough is planning to hold an indoor yard sale downstairs in Peterborough Square on Saturday October 22, 2022 from 9am to 1 pm.
We are looking for items in good condition to sell. We prefer items that will be easy for us to move (no large pieces of furniture), electronics that work, jewellery, and the usual yard sale items but no clothing. Monetary donations welcome! You can bring in your items during the ACP open hours the week of the sale.
We will also need volunteers to set-up and man the show, as well as take down, package and deliver leftovers to charities. Contact if you can help.  Any leftovers will be donated to the appropriate local charity.

Woven Design on Gourd
Monday, Oct 3, 2022
10:30 am - 3:30 pm

Are you looking for a new way to decorate your gourd?  We will be weaving on the outside of the gourd, using waxed linen or cords as well as beads to create a visually interesting design.  The instructor will provide a variety of fibres to use as well as lots of beads to choose from.

Gourders: As we will be working on the outside of your gourd, you will need to open and clean your gourd both inside and out.  It will be best if you finish the inside as well as the outside where you plan to do the weaving.  Your weaving does not have to be done in a circular, it can be any shape.  If the outside is not finished in advance, you will be unable to finish it later.

Students will need to bring a prepared gourd (as above).  We will be drilling holes in your piece, so bring your Dremel or plan to use of of the dremels at the centre.

Beginner Gourd Art
Monday, Oct 17, 2022
10:30 am - 3:30 pm

In this class, you will learn to use both hand and power tools for opening and cleaning gourds. Basic safety of working with gourds and care of tools  will be taught, so you will be able to use these tools on your own. You will sand and paint the inside of your gourd before using Adirondack dyes to give a colourful surface to the outside of your gourd. A glued leather rim will complete your gourd. Once you have completed this course you will be ready to apply a variety of techniques and express your creativity on a gourd. This class is a requirement for many other workshops in Gourd Art.

The Instructor will provide all materials and supplies for the class. Students need to bring an apron. If you have your own dust mask, please bring it.  Bring your lunch, or buy one from the vendors in the square.
