A Volunteer Remembered

Hayward started woodturning about 15 years ago when he retired from a career in sales.  He fell in love with the craft and enjoyed many of the challenges it offered.  He made Christmas tree ornaments from discarded Christmas trees, made bowls, platters, vases, spin tops, lidded boxes, beer tap handles, wine stoppers, goblets and laminated projects. He was a member of the Kawartha Woodturners Guild and a regular at the ACP, volunteering a day a week and participating in Artisanity and the Masked Artisan Markets as well as the online Artisans Market.  Even members who did not know him well say he was a kind and talented man and they will miss his enthusiasm, smile and friendliness.  Our sympathies are with his family and friends.

Creating Space

The Creating Space Community Arts Studio now shares space with the ACP.  Once the Covid Stay-at-Home restrictions are lifted they will be offering weekly Drop in sessions (Thursday afternoons from 3-6) as well as monthly Workshops (the second Saturday of each month from 1-4).  Since 2016, when a small group began offering drop in sessions at George St. United Church the group has moved over 7 times while looking for their "forever home".  It now it appears they have found that at the Artisan Centre location in Peterborough Square.  This free, inclusive environment welcomes people of all ages, children under 12 must have an adult with them.  Creating Space is run by volunteers, is not-for-profit, and welcomes eager volunteers to join their team. You can learn more about what they do on their Facebook page (link below).

Welcome!  We can't wait until in-person events can be scheduled again.  Keep your eyes on the ACP Calendar and the Creating Space Ptbo Facebook page.

ACP Membership

Our classes are open to any adult member of the community...AND...all members of our founding guilds are entitled to take courses at the reduced member rate.  Individual memberships are available for $50/year (September to August) or $30/year for students.  This fee enables you to also be a vendor at the Spring/Fall Artisanity sales.

By belonging to the ACP you benefit from collaboration with members from the other participating guilds and may find techniques within other mediums or from other mediums that will enrich your own experience.

Did you know?

Qualified Woodturners can use the ACP Workshop, outside of scheduled class times, for a nominal fee.    Bring your own projects, tools provided.  Note:  The current Stay-at-home order prevents this at this time.
