Masked Artisans Market

The Artisans Centre Peterborough is celebrating re-opening with an in-person Show and Sale.  The Masked Artisans Market will be held at the Artisans Centre (Unit 3 and in front) Oct 1, 2 & 3 from 11:00am to 5:00pm.

Local artisans will be showing and selling their specialty creations in Gourd Art, Pottery, Fibre Art and Woodturning.

A special feature of this event are works by local artist David Goyette.
If you are looking for a gift to celebrate a Covid-missed milestone (Graduation, Birthday, Anniversary, etc) or just want to get a jump on Christmas shopping you won't want to miss the Masked Artisans Market.

Be sure to ask for Gift Certificates at the desk.  They can be used toward a purchase from the Artisans Market Peterborough or to learn a new skill in one of the many classes offered at the centre.
Dear ACP Volunteers:
Presently we have several volunteers helping to keep the ACP open. Most mornings are covered, although we would welcome someone to relieve Lorne of Tuesday mornings. We now have Monday and Wednesday afternoons covered, but could really use some help with Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.  And remember, you don't have to do EVERY week. I can schedule 2 shifts a month, or whatever you might wish. You can always specify a preference that suits your life.

Please contact me by email or phone if you would be interested in covering some of these shifts. Thank you - it will be very much appreciated!

Community Cultural Centre Discussions

A small group of individuals, representing a number of artistic groups met at Showplace on September 9 to discuss the future of Culture in Peterborough.

Arising from this session were 3 themes or "pillars".
  1. Development and growth of the ACP into an artisans centre..
  2. Develop a voice for the arts to engage all levels of government, constituents, community and learning institutes..
  3. Develop a feature event as well as smaller events bringing different groups together at different times, in different locations and venues.
It was agreed that each of the 3 pillars need a champion consisting of a dedicated group of people acting as a taskforce to develop and implement them.

Groups who are interested in shared work/meeting/gallery space are asked to work with Lorne Hamilton (ACP President) and Cheryl McQueen (Ptbo Square Property Manager).

Survey results will be used to help move the groups forward.  lf you want to contribute to this initiative please respond to the following two questions in an email to Newsletter@artisanscentre.ca.
       1. What does "culture and arts" mean to you?
       2. What comes to mind when you think of culture and arts in Peterborough?

Note:  Past issues of this ACP Newsletter identified a number of other centres around the province/country that had already been created and were thriving.  Links to their webpages are listed below.
