Woodturning - Now with new equipment!!
The woodturning shop has now been equipped with new Rikon lathes, replacing those previously on loan from the Kawartha Woodturners Guild. During the transition to the new equipment we were able to maintain our class schedule and continue to look forward to welcoming students into the shop.
Natural Edge Bowl

This class will cover the basics of turning a natural edge bowl, including blank preparation, design considerations and turning basics.
Prerequisite: Basic Woodturning and demonstrated experience with a bowl gouge.
Turning a Peppermill

This class will cover the basics of turning a peppermill from wood, including blank preparation, turning basics, finishing and assembly.

1:30 - 4:30 pm

This series of classes will cover the safe operation of a lathe including appropriate personal safety protection and sharpening techniques for turning tools. It will cover techniques for turning spindles, both simple and complex, basic bowl and basic platter turning.
Basic Pen Turning
Wednesday, June 1, 2022
1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

This class will cover the basics of turning pens from wood, including blank preparation, turning basics, finishing and assembly. Pens will include a standard Slimline pen and possible variations on the Slimline. Students will take home two completed pens.
Sharpening Woodturning Tools
Monday, June 13, 2022
1:30 pm - 3:30 pm

This class will cover the use of the One Way Wolverine system for sharpening woodturning tools. Included will be the use of the Varigrind attachment for gouges and the skew attachment. Students are encouraged to bring their own woodturning tools to sharpen in the class.
