Oct/Nov Recap
Indoor Yard Sale (Sat, Oct 22)
Our first indoor yard sale was a success with a good crowd of people attending.  In just 4 hours $450 was raised for the Artisans Centre, as the tables that were full of goods at the beginning were much reduced at the end.  All of the remaining goods were taken to local charity stores.  Thank you to everyone who participated in so many ways, including:  bringing in items for the sale, helping to set up, manning the sale and packing up.  Our volunteers are wonderful.
Watch for news of another indoor yard sale in the spring of 2023.

Winter ARTISANity 2022 (Fri/Sat, Nov 4/5)
We had a huge variety of handmade items for sale at ARTISANity this month.  Attendance was lower than expected so sales were also lower.  Visitors were impressed with the variety and fine quality of what they saw, but many said they were just not able to buy at this time.   The next ARTISANity Show/Sale will be in the spring of 2023.
Thanks to Barbara and Anne for all of their hard work behind the scenes making sure this sale was a success.

Collaboration Corner

Businesses - Do you need some locally sourced gifts for your dedicated employees or your customers? Talk to us about how we can work together on this. Hand crafted scarves, hand turned pens, pendants, hand painted jewellery, gourd tea lights; we are in the process of putting together a catalogue, but don't wait for it to start the conversation.

Contact us through either Newsletter@artisanscentre.ca or Admin@artisanscentre.ca to see what is possible.

Artisans - Are you looking for a new inspiration? Send us a list of items you want included in the gift catalogue for our local businesses.

Contact Admin@artisanscentre.ca to have your creations added to the catalogue.

In the meantime, see what can happen when
a Gourd Artist and a Fibre Artist work together.

Gourd Art

Sunburst Chip Carving
Monday, Jan 9, 2022
10:30 am - 3:30 pm

Chip Carving on gourds is different from what woodworkers call chip carving.  Instead of using a carving knife, we will be using small rounded carving tools.  A variety of these tools will be supplied and you will learn how to use as well as  sharpen them.  If you enjoy this type of carving, we can help you chose which tool would be best to invest in and where they can be purchased.

The design we will be learning may look complicated, but once you learn this simple cut and how to draw the design it will become much easier.

Beginner Pyrography
Tuesday, Jan 24, 2023
1:00 - 3:30 pm

Are you looking for a way to enhance your gourd or wooden bowl?  Come and learn how adding simple designs with pyrography will add value and appeal to the most basic bowl.  You will burn a sampler design inside a border on your bowl, learning while burning what the different burning pen tips can do.

The Instructor will provide a tutorial with pattern ideas.
