Ed Asner Issues
Political call to Arms

Joins in Support of Free and Equal Elections

Dear Supporter,

Ed Asner, the legendary Emmy Award Winning actor and former President of the Screen Actors Guild met with Free and Equal Elections President Christina Tobin last week searching for solutions to the concerns he has about America’s future.  They sat down for an on camera interview where Mr. Asner urged the public to elect and occupy those in positions of authority.

Mr. Asner and Tobin strategized when he attended the second annual United We Stand Fest at Belasco Theater, LA last year.  They will be moderating a panel at FreedomFest on “Voter Access, Voting Fraud, and Gerrymandering: Can Democracy Work?” with Richard Winger, John Fund, Alicia Dearn and Frank Atwood.

Tobin, recently profiled in The Cambrian, lauded the iconic activist/actor.

“Ed Asner is a cultural and political hero for those whose voices continue to get squashed by the two-party political system that disenfranchises voters – his call to action in support of grassroots Democracy was empowering.”

Free & Equal Mission Statement

As a 501(c)(3) non-profit, non-partisan organization, the Free and Equal Election Foundation's mission is to broaden our electoral choices through education. We work to give all ballot-qualified candidates the opportunity to debate important political issues in public forums. We want to help level the political playing field and to inspire more independents and alternative party candidates to run for office. We want to empower and encourage more people, especially young people, to get involved in the discussion, participate in the political process and hold their government accountable.

We believe that "more voices, more choices" will help shift the political power back to the people, away from the control of a few corporations and political elites, creating a more balanced system where all are free and equal in their ability to participate. Free and Equal Elections Foundation was founded in 2008 by Christina Tobin, an American activist and leader in the election reform and voters' rights movements. Free and Equal hosted the 2012 Open Presidential Debate which was aired by various news outlets including C-SPAN and Al Jazeera. The event trended top ten on Twitter and was moderated by Larry King.
