We are so saddened to have lost another dear friend of The Arc. Stephen Robert Guarneri, Jr., 28, passed away March 21, 2017. He was born in Rockville Centre, New York.
Stephen came to The Arc Nature Coast in 2008 through the Hernando County Schools' 'transition program'. Stephen attended our life skills program and made many friends here. Stephen worked at several of our on-site work programs, including Wal-Mart Distribution Center, Alumi-Guard and Mirco Matic. Stephen participated on The Arc's POSSE Equestrian program for several years and won many awards for his excellent riding abilities.
Stephen enjoyed attending the dances and socializing. He will be truly missed by all of us.
He is survived by his parents, Stephen and Deborah Guarneri; 3 siblings, Nicholas, Brittany and Michael; maternal grandparents, Emil and Barbara Lamendola; godparents, Jack and Sue Guarneri; loving family and friends.
Spring Hill Elementary School recently presented our Education Center with a check for $289.10. These funds were raised by the 'Drop the Duds' program; where students donate a dollar or more to have a day of school where they can wear 'regular' clothes-rather than their usual uniforms. We are grateful that they chose our Education Center for this generous contribution. We decided to purchase a heavy-duty paper shredder with this contribution. We have been shredding documents as a job skill training exercise (and also to archive some old files), so we were in need of a good shredder! We also were able to purchase some items for our kitchen and some arts and crafts supplies. We are happy to see philanthropy in youth. Thank you all!
