I am back, and done guiding in central PA. The fall fishing sure was interesting. Penns was so low. We still fished it, guides only, and we worked hard for a handful of fish every time. We had a little dry fly action, throwing to rising fish, and a little nymph action. I did my best searching with a size 12 Stimulator. Dave Rothrock did pretty good with his BWO Spinner.
Guiding, I took clients to some other streams, sorry my secret. We had steady action, just not steady catching. We search with a Stimulator and did some nymphing with BWO's. A dropper worked well, "above and below" is what I say. I was surprised by lack of bug activity. This is two years in a row. We saw very little Fall Caddis and Isonychias around. I can count on one hand how my Isonychia I saw flying through the air. The heat? The low water? I don't know.
A little of vacation time for me. I played golf and guided locally this past week. The fishing was okay. At least they were all wild trout. The golfing was good, had two birdies, I love playing the senior tees. Nothing like hitting an 8 or 9 iron into the green.
Looking forward to doing some presentations. Philadelphia Angler's Club, Dame Juliana League, PA Fly Fish Forum (Zoom), Valley Forge TU, Perkiomen Valley TU, Donegal TU, Columbia County TU, and at the shows.
I have new presentations on Montana-Idaho and Labrador.
