Despite the fire, Concho Valley OPC is growing!
"The flame shall not consume you."
As we move alphabetically through the eight mission works of our presbytery, Rev. Steve Larson of Concho Valley OPC is up next. He writes:
"We continue to marvel at the way that the Lord is bringing people to our little mission. Some come because they are invited and others just show up. The Sunday after our fire in December two men came to the school where we are meeting, looking for our worship services. They have come consistently ever since!
We now have five men in the officers' training class, two of whom are ordained OPC elders. We hope to be organized as a congregation as soon as their training is completed.
Perhaps the thing that amazes us the most is the high level of commitment to Christ on the part of those who come. Although few come from reformed backgrounds, they are committed to the Gospel, and are faithful both to Christ, and to our church. When I asked one of the newcomers why she decided to come to our church, she said simply, "Because you preach the Bible."
As many of you know, our church building suffered a severe fire in December. After gutting the entire building, new electrical systems have been installed, the kitchen has been relocated, other improvements have been made, and the entire reconstruction and improvement is well under way; all this, in part, thanks to the generous contributions from our friends and brothers and sisters in Christ. We hope to be in the reconstructed building by June. In the meantime, a local public school has generously allowed us to use their facilities at a very reasonable price."
Praise God for all He is doing in the beautiful White Hills of eastern Arizona. Thank you so much, both for your prayers for Steve and Linda, and for asking your church to pray.
In the King of Glory,
