EDITORIAL
With the COP 21 taking place in Paris, the tragic events that occurred there make us even more determined to enhance our altruism and compassion and include the fate of future generations in our compassion (...) The question of the environment is a complex issue – scientifically, economically and politically. But in the end it comes down to  altruism versus selfishness (...) Since Karuna-Shechen works in and around the Himalayas, which have been described as the Third Pole, we are highly concerned by environmental questions.… MORE
 
Like so many other Indian towns, Bodhgaya is plagued by pollution from cars, trucks, and motorized rickshaws. To reduce air pollution Karuna-Shechen launched an innovative project to train women to create a network of female electric taxi-rickshaws drivers… MORE

We develop solutions for our beneficiaries based on sustainability and the interests of future generations.  Our Access to Water and Kitchen Garden programs improve living conditions in the villages and offer alternatives that do not contribute to soil depletion and erosion… MORE
 
Meet Geeta. Karuna-Shechen recently installed a solar lighting system in her home. She talks about how solar power has transformed her life and that of her children. Her village was electrified by one of the eight women who participated in our solar training in Kathmandu... MORE
