Here is a report from Craig on last week's ride:
22 riders went 29 & 41 miles northwest of Beloit. Several moderate hills were on the way, Plymouth Church Rd., and Johnson Rd. were the more significant ones. Everyone seemed to fare quite well on all of them. The Rabbits stayed together pretty well but they broke down into 2 groups with the second group on the tails of the first group. Several riders cut the ride a little short to meet at The Rock to refuel. Great night for biking.
Weather looks pretty good for next Tuesday so "Let's Ride".
RAW Ride Volunteers needed!!!
The Ride Across Wisconsin is once again traversing through Beloit and many Spinners have already responded to Volunteer for at least 1 1/2 hours. For those of you who have not yet done so please send me your availability between 11am & 4pm on Saturday August 26th: firstname.lastname@example.org Lunch and a T-Shirt (need size) will be provided. Thanks much.
Here is a photo of Team CCC from the MS 150 Bike Ride on Sat 8/4 & Sun 8/5. The following Spinners are in the photo: Jeff & Sue, Brian, Wendy, Rick, Jodi, Larry, Wendy...can you find them?
Other Spinners participating were Josh & his wife Marissa who rode with the Fur Bandits.
Team CCC came in 2nd place in fund raising last year so we got to start in 2nd position at the event. Overall there were 1400 cyclists who will raise close to $1.5million toward MS research. Fantastic!
Per the flier below, next Saturday August 19th is the Beloit & Beyond Bike Ride. This is a very well-organized and fully supported event for ALL levels of bicyclists plus it is FREE!
The last 2017 Spinner Night Ride will be Wednesday, August 23rd. Once again we will don our reflective biking clothes and see who has the brightest bike lights and blinkies. Ride will commence from Beloit Bicycle Company parking lot at 7 PM. Remember, these are slow rides - 22 miles in the city, and take approximately two hours. Join us!
PLEASE MAKE AN EFFORT TO COMPLETE THE SURVEY BELOW BECAUSE IT IS CRITICAL THAT THERE IS INPUT ON FUTURE BIKE/PED PATHS & MARKED BIKE LANES IN SOUTHERN WISCONSIN & NORTHERN ILLINOIS. THANKS MUCH
Shown below is an article that appeared in the BDN recently about the Bike/Ped Study that is currently being conducted by our local Municipal Planning Organization also known as SLATS. Several Spinners are on this committee and will be lobbyists for various Bike/Ped issues but anybody can weigh in on the survey that is accessible per info below:
You are highly encouraged to complete the survey and express your thoughts on how to improve the bike/ped system in the Stateline area. Keep in mind that our local MPO (Municipal Planning Organization) encompasses not only Southern Wisconsin but also Northern Illinois excluding Rockford.
The Tyranena Ride is another good one to check out...
