WOW, what a great night to go for a group ride and then gather together afterwards at the Bass Creek Coffee Shop for some good fix-ins & camaraderie.
OK, so who gets the trophy for having the most bicyclists show up??? Well, there were several head counts taken, some riders showed up right before the ride started so because of all these extenuating circumstances a "draw" was officially declared. In total we had just short of 50 people show up which is a real testament to the spirit & dedication of both The Janesville Velo Club and The Stateline Spinners.
The 2017 plate on the trophy will bear the names of both groups and the Velo Club will have the trophy for 6 mos and the Spinners for 6 mos.
Many "Thanks" to Wendy, Dave & son Caleb, owners of the Bass Creek Coffee Shop for providing the atmosphere and food for everyone--thank goodness there were enough "brownies" to go around.
Weather looks pretty decent for next Tuesday so let's hope for another good turnout.
From Spinner Jeff Johnson...
"Seven Spinners headed out last Wednesday evening for the first night ride of the season. We had a deer and her fawn cross our path near Freeman Park, took in a fantastic firefly show in the field south of McNeel Middle School, and sang Bee Gees songs when Sue flipped the switch on her cool bike disco lights."
Don't miss the next ride July 26th. We'll be able to start a little earlier for those of you who have to get up early the next day for work. Hard to believe the sun has already started heading north again.
On Saturday July 1st, there is the 3rd Annual "Joint Ride" with the McHenry County Cycle Club, the Janesville Velo Club and The Stateline Spinners. This is a very well organized ride around Geneva Lake that several Spinners have done in the past and can attest to the quality of the ride.
